New pet cancer treatment options–an innovative new weapon in the fight against B-cell Lymphoma in dogs has been released to veterinary oncologists. Merial has introduced the first DNA-based canine lymphoma vaccine (USDA conditional licensure) to be used in conjunction with traditional chemotherapy. Preliminary studies have shown an improvement in overall survival time compared to traditional chemotherapy alone for the treatment of this common cancer in dogs. This promising adjunct treatment option leverages dogs’ own immune systems to fight cancer.
