Our Oncology Nurses

About Amy B.

Medical Oncology Nurse

Amy is originally from Quebec, Canada where she was born. She has lived in Florida for 13 years and in that time graduated Edison State College in 2013 with an Associate Arts degree. From there she went on to earn her Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology with honors in 2015.   She is currently studying for her CVT.  Amy has always been interested in animals from domestic pets to large farm animals and even reptiles. Her desire to help animals brought her to Cancer Veterinary Centers where she is an Medical Oncology Nurse treating domestic pets. Since joining the team, she is now currently in training for radiation therapy expanding her experience and responsibilities in oncology medicine.

Amy enjoys her free time with her husband and her dog Molson who is a German Shepherd. She also likes to stay mentally and physically healthy with reading, working out and having good meals!

About Shannon Dixon

Medical Oncology Nurse

Shannon was raised in Naples Florida, but was born in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. While going to school for a teaching degree, she realized that her passion really was helping animals. She quickly changed career paths and focused on the general veterinary practice field. She worked in general practice for 8 years and from there went into specialty medicine and joined ER. In 2016 she moved into neurology and then into oncology where she took a special interest in. She felt this specialized area of veterinary medicine was the most challenging, yet the most rewarding. If there is any one area she could say is most intriguing to her in oncology, she would have to say brain tumors and lymphoma. Shannon’s 11 years of general and specialty experience as well as her true passion for veterinary oncology brought her to Cancer Veterinary Centers where she works as an Medical Oncology Nurse. She is currently studying at Penn Foster to receive her CVT license.

In her personal time, Shannon shares her life with her horse Partner, Shelby her Australian Shepherd and Chitty the cat! She finds her relaxation at the barn with her family horses or doing water activities.

About Michelle H.

Medical Oncology Nurse

Michelle was born and raised in Florida. She was born in West Palm Beach, was raised in Orlando and moved to Fort Myers in 2009. She has worked in veterinary medicine since 2006. Michelle spent 4 years in veterinary internal medicine before she decided to pursue veterinary oncology. Her special interest in lymphoma in pets not only helped with that decision, but is what brought her to Cancer Veterinary Centers as a Medical Oncology Nurse. She sees many patients with lymphoma successfully go into remission and do well and this is gratifying to her. As a Medical Oncology Nurse she wears many hats and perform tasks in many areas such as; chemotherapy, CT scans and x-rays along with doing inventory and just the day to day duties.

Michelle and her 6 year old son enjoy their time together with their 2 Pitbulls, Dixie and Tex, an African Grey, Jessie, a turtle named Ricki and a fish named Splash. Outside of spending time with her son, she enjoys going to the beach and sipping wine!

About Liz Rios

Medical Oncology Nurse

Elizabeth, better known as Liz, was born in Naples, Florida but raised in Harlingen, Texas.  In 2012 she moved back to Florida.  She graduated from Heritage Institute in Fort Myers, Florida with an Occupational Associate of Science in Veterinary Technician degree in February 2017.

Liz also served in the United States Army 25th Infantry Division, HI from 2010-2013 where she was deployed to Afganistan.  It was the military bomb detection dog, Dolly, that inspired her to want to become a veterinary oncology nurse.  Dolly was special to Liz and just a year after deployment, Dolly got stomach cancer.  After that, Liz’s goal has been to become a VTS in oncology and help future military dogs.

Her compassion for dogs and cats with cancer brought her to Cancer Veterinary Centers as a Medical Oncology Nurse where she administers chemotherapy, CT, radiographs and all other duties of a Veterinary Oncology Nurse.

In her personal time, Liz enjoys spending time with her 6-year old son, taking him to the beach and to parks.  She very much enjoys outdoor activities like camping, hiking, fishing and trail walking.  In between all of that, she is training her new Australian Shepherd puppy to be an ASD Service Dog.

About Kasandra Santos

Radiation Oncology & Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor

Kasandra, better known as KC, is originally from Puerto Rico and has lived in Florida for 6 years. She graduated with a Veterinary Technology degree from Sanford Brown Institute in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in May 2014.

KC knew her career life was going to be helping animals since childhood. Her love and compassion for animals is what brought her to Cancer Veterinary Centers where she is a Radiation Oncology & Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor. She especially enjoys radiation therapy because she sees how well her oncology patients feel after their treatments. In her own words she has said “I don’t see myself in any other scenario if there are no animals involved.”

KC is a very talented artist and in her personal time she loves to draw and paint. She has drawn many of her patients portraits as gifts to their owners. Her work is just beautiful with every such detail. Her own rescued dog, Rizzo and cat Khalee also keep her busy! KC enjoys spending some relaxation time with friends, enjoying the pool, beach as well as road trips.

About Anita Seda

Medical Oncology Nurse

Anita is a Florida native, and been has worked in veterinary medicine for about 13 years. She started working in kennels at veterinarian offices and worked her way up quickly to lead technician/nurse. Anita started in general veterinary practice in Miami, then moved into oncology and emergency practices in Fort Lauderdale and Deerfield Beach, Florida. She is currently working on her Veterinary Technician certification.

Since a child, she always loved animals and had a desire to work with them. She enjoys hard work and loves what she does. Anita has 2 adopted cats of her own, BellaDora who is a cancer survivor and Bodhi. When she is not hard at work, Anita enjoys working out and traveling. Her hobbies include Halloween costume and makeup design, dancing, camping, or any outdoor activities.

About Dena Latincic

Customer Service Representative

Dena is originally from Connecticut and has been in Florida since 1991. She received her medical assistant certificate from Edison Community College in Florida. Through the U.S Career Institute she received her certificate in medical coding. As one of Cancer Veterinary Centers Customer Service Representatives, her smiling face greets our patients as they walk through the doors. Dena’s 20 years of experience in the human medical field as a CSR and her love of animals brought her to Cancer Veterinary Centers. Her natural talent for such friendly and sincere compassion for clients and patients is a warm feeling upon arrival and departure. She is also one of the pleasant voices on the other end of the phone when our clients call our office.

Dena spends time with her 15 year-old and their dog Oreo who is a border collie mix. She enjoys relaxing with a bike ride, shopping or going out to dinner with family and friends. One of her most interesting hobbies is attending fan conventions where she gets the opportunity to meet her favorite actors! It is there that she collects celebrity items, autographs and pictures with the celebrities.

About Karen Norton

Customer Service Representative

Karen is originally from the Twin Cities MN and lived in Colorado for 12 years before moving to Florida in 2013.  She has joined Cancer Veterinary Centers as a Client Service Representative where she is assists in the welcoming and caring customer service we pride ourselves on.  Karen’s love for animals since a little girl comes through to our clients as they walk through the front doors. With a warm tone in her voice and smile on her face, our clients are happy to walk through those doors!  Karen is also an on the job trained Vet Assistant, so when she is not checking our patients in at the front desk, she is assisting with their needs in the back.

In her personal time, she loves to spend as much time as she can with her 7-year old jack Russell, B.G., 10-year old chihuahua, Kodi Bear and 1-year old cat, Mick.  She also enjoys walking the beach, swimming, kayaking and catching up with friends and family in Colorado and Minnesota.

About Nanichi Santos

Customer Service Representative

Nanichi (Nani) is originally from Corozal, Puerto Rico and has lived in Florida for 16 years. She has joined Cancer Veterinary Centers as a Customer Service Representative where she is instrumental in the compassionate customer service we pride ourselves on. Nani makes it her priority to make our clients and patients feel comfortable coming here whether it is their first time or tenth time. With her very cheerful and positive personality, our clients feel like they are part of the Cancer Veterinary Centers family. Nani is currently in the process of getting her Graphic Design degree so she also takes pictures and video of our patients, capturing the individual personalities of each patient, for our social media.

When she isn’t at work, she is staying busy with her 1 year old son and her dog and cat! Nani is a licensed Esthetician and Certified Make-Up Artist so she also enjoys doing make-up in her free time.

About Jessica Steinbeck

Customer Service Representative

Jessica (Jess) is a native to Florida originally from Fort Lauderdale. She has joined Cancer Veterinary Centers as a Customer Service Representative where she assists in the kindhearted customer service we pride ourselves on. Her friendly and welcoming personality lends itself to our clients and patients feeling at home here with us. Jess’s adaptability and willingness to help wherever needed is appreciated in all departments of Cancer Veterinary Centers.

In her personal time, Jess is very busy with her 2 sons and the various pets they have; 3 dogs, 3 cats, 3 tortoises, 2 snakes, a bearded dragon and 2 turtles. Jess will tell you that in her free time she enjoys tie with her boys, cleaning and taking her children from one sports practice to another!

About Ellen Angel

Practice Manager

Ellen was born in Texas but moved around quite a bit in the U.S as well as Europe. She settled in Florida 1 ½ years ago. She received her Bachelor’s degree in pre-veterinary medicine from the University of Delaware and her Master’s degree in biomedical and genetic engineering at Drexel University and Villanova. She then went on to get her MBA at Penn State University.

Ellen has worked full time in general veterinary medicine for 20 years. Her passion to spend her career life in the veterinary industry started at the age of 12 when she worked in veterinary practices in the kennels and on horse farms. Ellen worked as a veterinary technician and moved into a practice management position. She brings 21 years of experience to Cancer Veterinary Centers in her role of the Practice Manager. Her extensive veterinary knowledge and ability to manage a team of employees with harmony is a strength for Ellen. There is no such thing as a “typical” day for Ellen and her easy-going personality lends itself well to keeping each department running smooth each day. There is not an area of the practice she cannot assist with at any given time.

When she isn’t managing the practice, Ellen is managing her own time enjoying it with her 7 year-old son and their pets that consist of a Yorkie, 1 adult cat, 2 kittens and a macaw. She enjoys being physically active by going to the gym, weight lifting, playing pickle ball and tennis. For relaxation, she likes to go boating and having brunch with friends.

About Alesia Galuppo

Marketing Outreach Coordinator

Alesia is originally from Syracuse, New York and has lived in Florida for 25 years. She brings with her over 15 years of experience in the marketing and sales industry. She comes to Cancer Veterinary Centers from the Country Club business, where she served as a Director of Sales and Marketing for 15 years.

For the last 9 years, she has also served as the President and founder of Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida, Inc. It is through the rescue Alesia first met Dr. Kosarek and Dr. Ratterree and a good working relationship between Cancer Veterinary Centers and the rescue began. Alesia comes to Cancer Veterinary Centers with a great passion for animals and good medical knowledge as a medical coordinator for the rescue. Through the rescue, she has also developed good working relationships with many of the local veterinarians in the area.

Alesia manages the outreach and community engagement activities of Cancer Veterinary Centers. She keeps all of the local veterinary hospitals and pet owners up-to-date on all that Cancer Veterinary Centers has to offer their patients and pets in cancer care.

When she is not bringing awareness to the community about Cancer Veterinary Centers, you will find her working hard in the Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida. She also spends as much time as possible with her husband and their 3 dogs; Bo and Riley who are golden retrievers and Monty a yellow lab.

About Elaina MacLean

Director of Operations and Business Development

Elaina grew up in a small town of Portsmouth, Rhode Island just outside of Newport, Rhode Island. She attended the University of Rhode Island where she competed on their swim team for 4 years. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in chemistry.

Elaina has worked in veterinary medicine for over 10 years and earned her veterinary technician license in 2009. Her experience is with specialty veterinary medicine and practice management with a special interest in oncology and internal medicine. She chose the veterinary profession because of her enjoyment of working directly with the animals. Elaina also has an incredible ability and love for teaching, so as her time and experience progressed as an Veterinary Oncology Nurse, she evolved into her current position as Director of Operations and Business Development. She assists in the continued professional growth of each team member at Cancer Veterinary Centers by helping them use their best qualities to make them the best they can be in their positions. “I am honored to be part of the Cancer Veterinary Centers family and work alongside wonderful colleagues that inspire and support my work each day and to provide the highest quality and cutting-edge treatment options to our beloved patients. I am proud to be part of such a passionate team of professionals.” Says Elaina.

In her earlier years, Elaina was an ocean lifeguard and continues to love the beach, swimming and sailing with her husband and 3 year old son. At home they all enjoy their 2 dogs, 2 cats and 5 chickens!
